| The day before yesterday at the cathedral of Seville, I couldn't stop staring at the tomb of Christopher Columbus. What was going through his head before setting off for India by a new route: fear? confidence? excitement? Despite all the good things about yesterday, nothing carried over and I started the day from zero. Last night I stayed in an albergue for pilgrims and therefore I got up and set off an hour earlier than normal. Either for the morning briskness or for tiredness resulting from yesterday, I didn't find my rhythm until the last third of the stage. Anyway, I finished the stage but I didn't really enjoy it. I arrived in Mérida in time to have lunch and met with two friends of a friend. We spent much of the afternoon visiting the Roman ruins and having a few drinks. They were good representatives for the community of Extremadura and the day ended well. |
