Una Vuelta a Iberia, día 64

Visité Madrid una vez hace años y no puedo decir que lo pasara bien ni que conociera la capital. Desde entonces he llevado indiferencia hacia Madrid. Ayer viernes llegué con pocas ganas de volver a Madrid pero con muchas ganas de tomar un día de descanso. A pesar de pronósticos de lluvia el domingo, decidí aparcar la bici dos días y quedarme hasta el lunes. La verdad es que estoy contentísimo con lo que he logrado hasta ahora y tengo ganas de disfrutar de este momento -- y hay mucho aquí por disfrutar que no tiene que ver con turismo. A diferencia de la visita anterior, estoy muy cómodo con la cultura y el idioma. Por ejemplo, para tomar un cafe, evito Starbucks, busco una antigua cafetería cutre, saludo a los demás al entrar y tomo el taburete vacío al bar. Aún he empezado a tomar aceitunas. Bueno, esta vez estoy disfrutando de conocer la capital. No sé si podría vivir aquí pero por lo menos me gusta estar aquí.

I visited Madrid once several years ago and I can't say that I enjoyed it nor that I got to know the capital. Since then I have been indifferent towards Madrid. Yesterday Friday I arrived with little interest in returning to Madrid but lots of interest in taking a rest day. Despite forecasts of rain on Sunday, I decided to park the bike two days and stay until Monday. The truth is that I'm very happy with what I've achieved so far and I want to enjoy this moment -- and there's lots here to enjoy besides sightseeing. Unlike the previous visit, I'm very comfortable with the culture and the language. For example, to have a coffee, I skip Starbucks, look for a tacky old cafe, greet everyone on entering, and take the empty stool at the bar. I've even started to eat olives. Well, this time I'm enjoying getting to know the capital. I don't know if I could live here but at least I like being here.
