Una Vuelta a Iberia, día 10

San José (Níjar) a Almería, 50km (acumulados 945km)

Planeando una etapa corta hoy (sólo 50km), pasé la mañana parcheando cámaras por la primera vez en mi vida y esperando que las nubes oscuras despejen. Pregunté al señor del hotel si podría llegar a Almería por la costa y por el Cabo de Gata sí mismo. Me dijo que sí pero por 10km de carretera no asfaltada. Tuve que ver su condición antes de decidir. Pero lo que no me dijo el señor es que hay un tramo cortado a coches, que hay una subida cañera, y que las vistas son la hostia y totalmente valen la pena. ¡Resultó una salida espectacular! No fue ningún problema para mi querida bici ni para mi netbook agitado. La verdad es que las piernas no tuvieron muchas ganas de pedalear hoy y agradecieron la etapa corta. Pero más tarde di una vuelta en bici al centro de la ciudad para ver la Alcazaba ("ciudadela" en arabe).

Planning a short stage today (only 50km), I spent the morning patching tubes for the first time in my life and waiting for the dark clouds to clear. I asked the gentleman of the hotel if I could get to Almería by the coast and by Cabo de Gata itself. He said yes, but by 10km of dirt road. I had to see its condition before deciding. But what the gentleman failed to tell me is that there is section of the road closed to cars, that there is a tough climb, and that the views are stunning and totally worth the effort. It turned out to be a spectacular ride! It was no problem for my beloved bike nor for my agitated netbook. Actually my legs weren't keen to pedal today and appreciated the short stage. But later I took a bike ride around the center to see the Alcazaba ("citadel" in Arabic).
