Una Vuelta a Iberia, día 24

Mérida a Embalse de Alcántara, 104km (acumulados 1992km)

Primero, mil gracias a mis amables anfitriones en Mérida. Me alojaron, me trataron como una VIP, y me aguantaron un día más que lo esperado. Bueno, con dos días de descanso (uno debido a lluvia) en los últimos cuatro días, me levanté sentiéndome bien y con muchas ganas de montar la bici. Aunque quedaron muchas nubes, la lluvia había parado y la carreteras habían secado. Desde el inicio, encontré mi ritmo. A pesar de una racha de frío, llegué sin problema a Cáceres, di una vuelta al casco antiguo, y comí en la plaza mayor. Pensando en continuar, encontré (por Google Maps) un albergue "de construcción moderna y vanguardista" a lado de un embalse. Decidí no terminar la etapa después de sólo 69km y en lugar continuar otro 35km. A pesar de rachas de viento, llegué sin problema al albergue y disfruté de su ubicación bonita y tranquila.

First, many thanks to my gracious hosts in Mérida. They put me up, treated me like a VIP, and put up with me a day more than expected. Well, with two days off (one due to rain) in the last four days, I woke up feeling good and looking forward to riding the bike. Although there were many clouds, the rain had stopped and the roads had dried. From the beginning, I found my rhythm. Despite a cold spell, I arrived with no problem in Cáceres, walked around the old town, and ate in the main square. Thinking of continuing, I found (with Google Maps) an albergue "of modern and avant-garde construction" next to a reservoir. I decided to not finish the stage after only 69km and instead to continue another 35km. Despite gusty winds, I got to the albergue and enjoyed its beautiful and tranquil location.
