Una Vuelta a Iberia, día 30

Burgos a Vitoria-Gasteiz, 116km (acumulados 2543km)

Primero, mil gracias a los dos amigos de Barcelona y a sus familiares en Burgos: al hermano por dejarme alojar en su piso, a la madre por darme a comer muy bien, y al padre por llevarme y guiarme por la ciudad. Me trataron como una VIP y me aguantaron un día más que lo esperado. Un tema de este viaje es ampliar mis límites. Normalmente, si no hace 15 grados como mínimo, no salgo en bici. Pero con pronósticos de lluvia para mucho de la próxima semana, tuve que aprovechar de la oportunidad hoy. Así que salí con 9 grados y con el cielo totalmente tapado. Con ropa mayormente apropriada, no sufrí. De hecho, disfruté de un buen rendimiento y aún un buen humor inesperado. Sólo en los últimos kilómetros la lluvia me consiguió pillar. Hoy entré en País Vasco y se notó: el paisaje es un poco más montañoso, la arquitectura incorpora algunas ideas distintas, y no puedo leer ni los nombres de las calles. Por suerte, el alojamiento en Vitoria-Gasteiz me dió un mapa del centro con un camino recomendado (que detalle). Di una vuelta al casco antiguo y me mojé un poco en la lluvia.

First, many thanks to the two friends from Barcelona and to their family in Burgos: to the brother for letting me stay in his apartment, to the mother for feeding me so well, and to the father for driving me and guiding me around the city. They treated me like a VIP and put up with me a day more than expected. One theme of this trip is to push my limits. Normally, if it isn't a least 15 degrees, I don't go out on the bike. But with rain forecast for much of the next week, I had to take advantage of the opportunity today. Thus I went out with 9 degrees and with the sky completely overcast. With clothing mostly adequate, I didn't suffer. In fact, I enjoyed a strong performance and an unexpectedly good mood. Only in the final kilometers did the rain manage to catch me. Today I entered Basque Country and it showed: the landscape is a bit more mountainous, the architecture incorporates some different ideas, and I can't read even the names of the streets. Fortunately, the accommodation in Vitoria-Gasteiz gave me a map of downtown with a recommended walking route (nice touch). I walked around the old town and got a little wet in the rain.
